grew up in williamsport, pa, began studying photography in high school at whas.  attended antonelli institute in erdenheim, pa, just outside philly, graduating in 1998 with an associate in commercial photography.  moved to dc to attend the corcoran college of art & design receiving a bfa in fine art photography.  worked retail in a camera store for 13 years doing everything from shipping & receiving to managing a rental department.

i currently live in the trinidad neighborhood in dc, which i enjoy documenting as i witness a notoriously tough neighborhood fight back against gentrification.  since moving to trinidad in 2010, i have found it to be a warm, down-to-earth community that just happens to contain a few bad apples; like any community.  the residents are generally proud to live here, many of the families have been here for 3 generations, and are naturally cautious of changes within the neighborhood.

i work as a photo professional: assisting other photographers, providing digital services, producing fine art photography, website design, etc.  i work primarily with digital techniques, but still occasionally shoot film because i enjoy it.  well-versed in traditional color and black & white darkroom work, as well as the digital darkroom, i have an appreciation and passion for the craft of photography.  i’ll leave the poetic words about light & shadow and the beauty of film grain & bokeh to those that do it well, and continue to try to make images that say all that.
